A writer's Random ramblings
For the first time in most people’s lives the world faces a pandemic. Sure, we have seen viral infections before, but not on this scale. What does a person do when she faces menopausal hot flashes while needing to wear a face mask?
Looking right into this situation, I tired pretty much everything. A mask my husband had previously used while fixing the attic? That overheated the hot flashes. Other masks did not hold onto my ears the way the labels said they should. What about a bandana tied around the face? That gave the same results of overheating and leading me to wonder when I could take it off. With summer approaching at the time I sought to comply with government regulations to cover up, I wondered how to handle it. One day, while scrolling through Instagram, I tripped over SheSublime’s offer of a free stretch mask with ear loops. At first, I wondered If the loops would hold onto my ears, where nothing else had before. The only real issue I had with this offer was the request for a review came before the mask made its way to me. Although the pandemic delayed shipping some, I got the mask within 3 weeks. I have now been trying it out for a few weeks to give it a fair shake. True to labeling information, this does fit as a neck gaiter, which will keep my neck warm in winter whether face masks continue as a necessity or if it becomes a fashion item. I will appreciate, based on past experience with cold weather, that it can go under my coat and provide warmth by then. For now, with the nation still under orders to wear facial coverings, I will stick with SheSublime’s neck gaiter offering. It extends down the neck, yes, but the ear loops actually hold it on. It covers all of the essential areas, such as the nose, mouth, and chin. It can be worn tucked into a shirt or untucked to provide a bit of ventilation from the bottom. The fabric breathes better than any other I have tried, so I can breathe more comfortably while wearing it. I appreciate this greatly as one who faces menopausal hot flashes every day at random intervals. Although Amazon says to machine wash it on cold and hang to dry, I rinsed mine in the tub and put it on a towel hook to dry. All in all, SheSublime’s stretchy face mask feels like a swimsuit for the face. It dries from sweat relatively quickly and does not seem to require as frequent washing as other forms of masks. Being reusable also makes it more cost-effective than disposables. I highly recommend this mask for those who still need one. It comes in many fabric prints and can fit pretty much anyone, so well worth the price.
