All throughout humanity Learn to see That we Can’t spell community Nor have that ideal without some form of unity When one person ignores another For a different sister or brother Because of a preference That defies common sense When he or she Only seeks to fulfill one destiny Regardless of whether society Cares to recognize or agree With a new piece of static or performance art In a well-scripted and acted part As we hopefully learn to cast aside differences in humanity To create a unified society Where each and every Person has value in a global community. Now move from the Month of Women’s History Into that of Poetry, Why not try reading a woman’s literary Contribution to society Or her record and story Of our shared humanity? Whether it’s described through poetry, Essays, letters, short story Or even a novel or romance or mystery, Sometimes our stories are quiet and discreet, Other times detailed and extremely complete. The works span time and space in history With a viewpoint exposed differently Than in any Other person or group’s mentality, So why shouldn’t we Encourage women’s literary Accomplishment through drama, story, Music, or poetry? It’s about time we Gave all voices validity In our modern society Regardless of their maker’s gender, race, or sexuality. |
