No time to bake That birthday cake For lover, child, or friend? Why not surprise them With another kind of treat They will want to eat? Cookies can easily stack When you need a simple or last-minute hack. Pile them neatly on a fancy tray Add decorations around it appropriate to the day, For example, white chocolate poured into molds of plastic Can become instruments and symbols of music By melting the candy down Using colored sugar as its crown Then placing the mold in the fridge to set So by party time you get A fun dessert for the day To help that someone special celebrate.

Education that truly imparts a sense of humanity
Needs to include all kinds of arts and creativity. Music and poetry teach rhythm, meter, and rhyme To help people express in literature the meaning of time. Integrating the arts to life also helps bring history And associated social sciences and philosophy Into focus through paint, sculpture, and photography, Which bring light, color, and texture a new unity While performing in band, orchestra, theatre or dance Can add an air of mystery or romance To what science and math set out to explain When people find joy, pain, Love or curiosity In what makes them a part of all humanity. This month, let’s give poetry its due
Rhyming or not, finding a favorite is up to you. Each tells a story or sings a song Some arrive in short form, some in long. Poems can appear straightforward or quite obtuse, But all of them seek to infuse Literature with a language’s flow To impart to others whatever one may know. Whether it’s Easter or Passover you’re celebrating Or you simply wish those around you a Happy Spring, Keep the poetic arts in sight At least until we wish the month of April a good night, That in season with nature, you May find a way to body, mind, and spirit renew. Though “Oven” or “Grill” the Campbell’s packets say

Using a Crock Pot on low Gives a way to cook things slow To help tenderize tough cuts of chicken. beef, or pork While a person does errands or goes to work. Or for an American flavor, try The Oven Sauce made for pot pie. Place a layer of potato cubes to thicken The sauce as it surrounds the beef, pork, or chicken Mixed with the meat’s own juice And water from the frozen veggies making the sauce loose. Soup mix vegetables give the recipe a traditional feel Although any family favorite keeps it real And attractive to those who partake Of the meal you so simply make. To that where we celebrate poetry, Let’s keep in mind How both months help us find New ways to learn and transcend A world without end In its treasures of humanity, science, and art Where not only a few, but all, can truly take part When everyone opens his or her mental state To different voices and ideas without hate. It doesn’t matter if one is straight, nonbinary, or gay, Woman and man all have something to say. So let’s all embrace our humanity By reading different literatures from all society. Whether a poem rhymes or music soars, Essays educate or colors rise over the shores, Numbers help us arrange the dance Or science explains a budding romance, We can learn to communicate to one and all So no more do humans need to fall Into oblivion or obscurity But instead help each other into a transcendental purity. |
